RALLY FOR RAE – the high school is joining other schools and businesses in Clinton County to Rally for Rae Toennies. We will be taking donations at the Tuesday, Feb 5th Boys Basketball game vs Central. If you did not get a chance to donate yet and would like to, please give your donation to your first hour teacher or you can turn it directly in to the office. An eighth grade student at Germantown Elementary, Rae Toennies, has been very ill fighting a serious infection. She has been hospitalized since the end of December. Rae is the niece of one of our Trenton Elementary teachers (Mr. Toennies).

 

POPCORN DAY TODAY during 4th hour. All proceeds go to the Rally for Rae Campaign!!

 

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL – There is a signup sheet in the office if you would like to volunteer to help with Special Olympics Basketball this Sunday, February 10. Workers are needed from 10:30 – 2:00 to help with lunch and awards.

 

VALENTINE COOKIE GRAMS on sale – Cookies are $2.00 each and all orders will be taken at lunch or in Ms. Taylor’s room. All orders are due by this Friday, February 8th.

 

BASEBALL TEAM/FAN GEAR – The baseball team has fan gear available in its team store: https://stores.inksoft.com/WS11549. The last day to order is February 18.

 

Spanish Club members please wear your t-shirt to school on Thursday for a picture.

 

GUIDANCE NEWS . . .

*NEW: A representative from Blackburn College will be here tomorrow, February 6th, at 12:45 to meet with interested juniors and seniors.  Sign up today in the guidance office if you would like to meet with the rep.

 

Explore Health Sciences Night at Kaskaskia College will be held Wednesday, February 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Kaskaskia College HPC Building. Come and learn more about Dental Assisting, Paramedicine, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy and Sonography. For more information please contact 618-545-3331.

 

Clinton Co. Electric Cooperative, Inc. is again sponsoring its "Youth to Washington" and "Youth to Springfield" programs this spring.  Clinton Co. Electric will sponsor up to 12 sophomores and juniors whose parents receive their electricity from Clinton Co. Electric to attend an all-expense paid trip to Springfield on Wednesday, April 3rd.  During the day students will meet their elected senators and representatives at the Capitol and learn first-hand about the workings of state government.  In addition, students will tour the Supreme Court and other historic sites of Springfield.  Clinton Co. Electric Cooperative will also sponsor 2 of these students to attend a week long all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. from June 14-21st.  See Mrs. Fisher for an application.

 

Murray State University is hosting an Honors Academy June 8-29.  This 3 week enrichment program on the MSU campus will allow students to receive 6 hours of university credit, have the opportunity to take 6 additional free hours during their senior year, and receive a four year $2,000 housing scholarship.  Interested students need to have a 3.5 GPA.  The application deadline is March 1st.  See Mrs. Fisher for more information.
